Clinical Services
The Center enrolls individuals for evaluation and follow-up, including:
- normal control subjects
- individuals with mild memory problems
- individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias
Three clinics provide clinical evaluation for appropriate patients who are seeking medical assistance for changes in mental ability. Clinical research is underway at the Center and is usually actively enrolling suitable patients into one or more studies. This includes clinical trials seeking to identify medications to delay or treat the symptoms of dementia. In addition, educational programs for family members and/or professionals are provided through the Center. There is strong commitment to basic research that explores the underlying mechanisms of Alzheimer's Disease. The emphasis is always on translational research, or ways in which improved understanding can translate into effective treatment.
